Academic Transcript Translation UK

Academic transcripts contain more than course titles and grades. Translator London prepares certified translations of university transcripts, school records and formal academic results for admissions, employment and qualification assessments. We preserve each record’s structure so the receiving institution can understand modules, credits, scales, dates and awarding details.

SERVICE OVERVIEW

When you may need academic transcript translation

Transcripts may list subjects, module codes, academic years, grading systems, credits, attempted subjects, cumulative averages or graduation status. Different education systems use different scales. A faithful translation should make labels understandable without converting scores into a supposedly equivalent UK grade unless an authorised assessment specifically calls for that.

Academic transcripts may include course names, modules, credits, grading scales, examination results and awards. The meaning of these fields can vary between education systems, and reviewers often need the original structure preserved. If an academic record is also required as immigration evidence, consult our UK visa document translation guide for the route-specific requirements.

DOCUMENT DETAILS

What to check in an academic transcript translation

UK ENIC/Ecctis and individual universities have their own rules about acceptable documents and certified translations. A translation is not an equivalence assessment. The institution might need the diploma as well as the transcript, or ask that records be issued directly by the university. Check the admission or evaluation instructions before ordering.

Translate the official headings and grading notes faithfully. Do not convert grades, assume a credit-equivalence system or assign a UK award classification unless an authorised process supports that interpretation.

Transcripts with module tables, credits and grading legends can require more formatting work than a single-page certificate. Our guide to certified translation pricing explains why the number of pages alone does not determine a quotation.

PRACTICAL GUIDANCE

A practical transcript grading example

A transcript with an overall mark of 8.5 on a ten-point scale must not be labelled automatically as a UK first-class degree. The translation should reproduce the mark and explain the original scale if present. Credit units, resit codes and course abbreviations may also need careful treatment.

A number described as a semester credit in one system should not automatically become an ECTS or UK credit figure. The transcript can be translated as issued while the university or qualification assessor handles comparisons.

CERTIFICATION & DELIVERY

Certification for academic transcripts

Universities, employers and qualification assessment organisations may specify their own translation format. Ask whether they need a certified transcript translation, the source record, an official institutional copy or a separate academic equivalency assessment.

Before choosing a format: Confirm the receiving organisation’s written instructions and provide the full record.
OUR PROCESS

How to request academic transcript translation

  1. Upload every page and the grading key or legend.
  2. Identify the university, employer or assessor receiving it.
  3. Confirm certification and deadline requirements.
  4. Cross-check module names, academic dates and award details.

Check the completed translation against the document you supplied. Names, reference numbers and significant annotations should be consistent with the source.

WHAT TO AVOID

Common mistakes with academic transcripts

Incomplete tables, faint stamps and missing pages can undermine academic records. Avoid photos with perspective distortion or cropped columns. If a university asks for a sealed original transcript or direct verification with an issuer, a translation alone will not satisfy that condition.

Do not omit a grading legend, failed or repeated modules, or credit information. A translation explains the transcript but does not issue an academic equivalence or admissions decision.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Can you translate transcripts for UK university admissions?

Yes, we can prepare certified translations, but confirm your university’s requirements for the original and submission format.

Will the translation convert my overseas grades to UK grades?

No. Conversion and recognition require a separate academic assessment or an institution’s own process.

Do you translate module names and academic notes?

Relevant visible subject names, grading explanations and annotations can be included in the translation.

Should I also translate my degree certificate?

Often useful, but follow the exact list requested by the recipient.

What influences translation price and turnaround?

Pricing depends on length, language direction, specialist vocabulary, urgency, formatting and any separate certification or delivery requirements. Upload the document for an assessment instead of relying on generic pricing that may not cover your particular need.

Order your academic records and university transcripts

Upload the original, tell us who will receive the translation and specify any deadline. The order can then be assessed against the actual document rather than assumptions about its format or use.
